Sodium Benzoate is an approved class II preservative that is widely used in preservation of carbonated drinks, jams, fruit juices and medicines. Sodium benzoate occurs naturally in many foods like cranberries, bilberries and dairy products.

It is a water-soluble compound and its use as a preservative is safe and approved by the U.S FDA.
